Job Search Strategy Slides
Successful business enterprises nearly always use strategy development and planning as key contributors to their successes. Strategy and planning provide the direction and roadmaps to those successes. This holds true for start-ups (which must present business plans to gain funding), growing companies and companies facing challenges and transition, and successful mature firms seeking to continue to grow and prosper. The same approach can, and should, be applied to the job search. Indeed, most career coaches and outplacement firms have their clients develop a simple marketing plan. When in a job search, especially a tough one (due to reasons such as an economic slowdown, a declining industry or function, too many or too few jobs, etc.), a professional and/or an executive job seeker can benefit greatly by applying key, appropriate business tools such as business or strategic planning. This presentation package summarizes a simple, and straight-forward, 7-step process for developing and deploying a job search strategic plan. The resulting plan will be based on the specific needs, opportunities, capabilities, and challenges of the individual professional-in-transition. Although the planning process and the resulting plan will focus on what needs to be done to gain more, high quality interviews, the process itself will also help prepare one for better interview performance.
