The Treasured Woman • A Few of My Favorite Things
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. Proverbs 31:25
/l/1300/1387_s.jpg This woman of proverbs paints a picture of a woman of varied interests, talents, and virtues. There is more to this woman than meets the eye. She isn’t just a busy woman, but a woman busy with the purposes of God. She is a woman of faith. She makes strength her garments and the knowledge that God is in control, her hope. Her view of the future makes her smile and often laugh at herself. Her inner confidence in God’s ability to take care of her and her family projects a countenance of joy. She is not timid in her faith. She is bold and that boldness projects a dignity that causes others to feel her strength. She is a woman that has learned to trust her God.

MY FAVORITE RECIPES
I love easy recipes that taste good and creative recipes that look good. Enjoy!

Tortilla Soup
I love soup when the weather starts turning nippy in the fall. Don't you?

1 cup brown rice (white won't do!)
2 cups water
1 teasp. salt
1/2 stick butter
1 sm. onion, coarsely chopped
1 lb. chicken breast, cut in cubes
1 sm. can diced green chiles
1 can kernel corn with liquid
1 large zucchini, coarsely chopped
1 large yellow squash, coarsely chopped
1 large can (approx. 28 oz.) diced tomatoes
4 cans chicken broth
Pepper, Tabasco & cayenne to taste

1 bag plain tortilla chips
Shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 350. Place rice, water, & salt in casserole. Bake 1 hour. While rice is baking prepare soup. In large pot, melt butter. Add onion and saute a bit. Add chicken and saute until no longer pink. Add chiles, corn with liquid, zucchini and squash. Stir. Add tomatoes and 4 cans broth. Stir. Heat to boil. Simmer gently for 30 min. Season to taste with pepper, Tobasco, & cayenne. When brown rice is done, add all of brown rice to soup. Stir and serve.

How to serve: Place a few chips in bottom of bowl. Ladle soup over chips. Sprinkle cheese and chips on top. Absolutely yummy and healthy, too. It makes plenty for a big group and is always a hit.

Weight Watcher's Points: 9 per serving (including 1 oz. chips and 1/2 oz. cheese)

WEIGHT WATCHERS INTERNATIONAL
Personal Note: I have been a life-time member of Weight Watchers since 1990. Having struggled with weight most of my life, God led me to not only join WW and lose the weight I needed to lose, but to go through their maintenance program to learn to keep it off. I had tried every diet known to man, but God used WW to teach me to eat right and to learn discipline. Their web site is great & great recipes, too.

Crafts to take you away from the cares of life.

Cherry Sundae
Is as cute as it can be! Looks so real! Topped with white & pink carnations that look just like whipped cream. Filled with jelly beans, a cherry on top and a straw for 'sipping', it's not complete without the ever present bumblebee competing for a taste. Filled with chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry jelly beans.

Supplies

1 Red, white, and blue striped bendy straw
3 Pink carnations (approx. 3" diameter)
8 White carnations (approx. 3" diameter)
1 Silver pipe cleaner
1 Chenille bumblebee
1 Clear tall glass ice cream sundae jar
Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry jellybeans
1 artificial red cherry
5” green florist Styrofoam half ball
Scotch tape

Instructions

1. Cut all carnation stems to within 1 1/2 inch from base of flower. Lay aside carnations.

2. Take Styrofoam half ball and press edges with fingers until it fits into top of sundae snugly. Remove and lay aside.

3. Layer sundae jar with jellybeans as follows: 1st layer - strawberry, 2nd layer – vanilla, 3rd layer – chocolate.

4. Place Styrofoam half ball back into top of sundae and wrap Scotch tape around edge of glass catching in the foam ball to secure.

5. Starting about ½” – ¾” up from edge of glass, poke a white carnation into the foam. (Hold Styrofoam securely with other hand while you do this so you don’t dislodge it.) Place another one directly opposite. Then 2 more spaced evenly between the first two. Fill in gaps evenly with rest of white carnations. Place the 3 pink carnations above white carnations around center of Styrofoam ball. (See picture)

6. Push the bendy straw into center and bend. (If this is difficult, make a hole with a sharp pencil first. You can add a bit of craft glue, too.)

7. Push the cherry into center next to straw. Let the cherry stand up a bit so you can see it peeking just above the pink carnations.

8. Take the silver pipe cleaner and wrap it around a pencil. Unwind loosely. (See picture) Stick one end of pipe cleaner into end of bumblebee and put a dab of white craft clue at place of entry. Let dry.

9. Stick in buzzing bee into foam ball where white and pick carnations meet.

So cute! Perfect in a little girls room or as a gift for a dieting friend. I have one sitting in my office. It makes me happy to look at it.

HOLLYWOOD PRAYER NETWORK
Also, I have always had a heart to pray for Hollywood, the movie industry and actors and actresses. If this interests you, I would like to recommend a wonderful Christian website founded in Hollywood called Hollywood Prayer Network. These loving and dedicated Christians pray, not only for the industry but for Christians that feel called into that field. They also take prayer walks around Universal Studios on a regular basis and have Holywood Prayer Networks around the world.
